Authors note: This informational essay describes why both of these certain two books are survival and why they are.
Did you know two percent of all books have a survival theme? This may not seem like a lot but, most other themes have less than one percent. Two of my favorite survival books are, “Set a course for freedom” by Andrew Murphy and “Blood red horse” by K.M. Grant. Both books have similarities and differences. On the other and both books will be ended by the same exact thing. Therefore survival is the main universal theme for both books.
Similarities are what I think tie these two books together. This is because the way the authors, use the puzzle affect. The puzzle effect is when they give you information in the beginning of the book and use it in the end. There are not just similarities in the way the authors write but in the events themselves. One way is how both of the main characters (William and Christopher) are fighting for their lives but are there because they were there doing something for other people. For example on page 89 in the book blood red horse: “Think of it brother we came all the way out to this bloody god forsaken desert to fight some rich man’s war, now were fighting for our lives”. This is one of many similarities between the two books.
While there may be a lot of similarities there are also just as many differences in the two books. One of these for example is in the book “Blood red horse” they are trying to survive against the desert and in Book 2 they are fighting against the British navy. While the end of both books are ended because of the same thing the real end results are ended totally different. The main character in book one dies because of his pride of thinking that he could survive. While in book two he gives up trying to survive from the navy and abandons in his mission.
These are the main reasons that these books are both a survival themes. Even though they could classify as another theme most things fall in the category of survival. Mainly that the fact that the main characters in both books are always on the very edge of life or struggling for life. Meanwhile someone else is always in control and trying to keep the victims in control sort of like in social studies class when we learned about the king trying to control the colonies. Unlike the king the bad people in book 1 and 2 did controlled the characters to the end.
As of a result of all these things, being there for someone else, the end results from being proud. Also the tons of facts of how they are different like how the characters die and how the people control other characters or other controllers. And most of all because both of these books main themes are survive or boldness. Mostly survival because of why the authors write.

The Search
Have you ever had a plan that fell apart in one moment? In the book Set a course for freedom by K.T.Gram the main plot is. Christopher left to save Mattie’s husband Thomas that was secretly delivering a message but is all ruined in a single moment that Thomas was caught. The climax is because of the plot. This is when Christopher is capture by the British navy during his search for Thomas. This is the climax because since he was captured everything started to wrong like losing his true love not making any more money, Like in tragedies so I predict the end will end in death.
Death is not the only thing that happens to the main character, he gets really lucky with the opportunity to be able to travel for free because of one of Thomas’s friends on the revolutionary side that is helping him. But, right before he was about to deliver the message he was captured. Therefore the climax is made. Since he was captured, that changed the whole war that was going on in Philadelphia. This is because of the info found on Christopher. It also ruins his family because he was the only one making money. That is why Christopher being captured is the climax.

Friend or Foe?
Authors note: “This essay is about the theme and wrong things thought the book Set a course for freedom”
You ever wondered to play it safe or take some risks? So far I have read to page 71, in the book “Set a Course for Freedom” by William K. Lewis. In this book there are four main characters, Thomas, Mattie, Mr. Hampton and, collie. Thomas Mr. Hampton and, Mattie are all Americans. Collie is a British naval officer on the British warship the Derby. The theme of this book is about the brutal treatment from navel s ships .The event that will be seen through the eyes of these characters is that capture of Thomas, and the decision to escape from the British navy. Each character will take their turn in their opinion to say what Thomas should do.
The interruption in the story is through Thomas’s eyes which made the events seem bad or evil because, of the description of the British navy men. Thomas thinks they are dirty rotten people who make them do stuff they don’t want to do. He also thinks that it was totally outrages of them kidnapping him and he will try and escape at any risks. This is because if he doesn’t he will fail his sister because he can’t find her husband on a naval ship. Also he will have to move to Britain and he has no family there as, being American.
Although Thomas was being American Collie is full British. Collie thinks it was great that he was captured, because that means less work. He does not think that Thomas should run away because he knows the consequences If he tries. Mattie is completely clueless about what is happening in the mental war. She thinks that it is good to be doing work. She views it as a good thing. Mr. Hampton is the one who has sent the people out to gather more workers and he thinks it is great that they got him and thinks that Thomas should cool off. Over all this book is very one sided because the men really did not do that much to him but the author makes a big fuss about it he makes the navel personal seem like devils. That is why in the book he will try to escape because he makes it seem so bad on the ship. If it were through the eyes of anybody else he would make a few friends and stay.

The Stereotype
Authors note:I wrote this essay to complete four of my goals in organization. This essay also explains how stereo types affect others and what one is.
Do you have a role model that is perfect in something that you like? You may not know this but, that is a stereo type. A stereo type is something or someone who represents an idea or product. There are many types of stereo types. For example in the book the “Outsiders” by S.E Hinton, Dally would be the ideal stereo type of the greasers. This is because he has a jail record, wears ripped jeans and has greasy hair and is good at fighting. Another example of a stereo type would be Cherry. The hone example of a Soc because she is admirable, wears lots of jewelry, and drives classy cars.
Yes there all types of stereo types but there are also tons of ways stereo types affect people. One of the most common ways of a stereo type would affect someone would be either negative or positive. A negative way would be, for example a Nazi stereo type would be a German with mustache and hat, with a gun that looks angry and hurtful. This could affect you negatively if you are against war and you did not like guns. This could affect you positively if you are a Nazi and like scaring people around the world. In the book the outsiders a stereo type would be Dally. Dally affected the greasers positively because it showed them who they are. It affected the socs and public negatively because of his jail record and what evil people they must be.
There are also other books that have stereo types even evil ones like “Blood Red Horse” by K.M Grant on page176 It says “Kamail is the perfect example of my Muslim warrior’s because he is noble, sleek, and cunning I hope that he will be the one for my throne.” Although other books have stereo types I think that the “outsiders” explains it the best because she shows how they are the main stereo types over and over again throughout the whole book on purpose and sometimes not on purpose.88 For example on page 11 it says. (He had quite a reputation. They had a file on him down at the police station. He had been arrested. He got drunk, he rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kids, he did everything . I didn’t like him, but he was smart and you had to respect him.). This explains how he acts and what a greaser acts. It later goes on to say how Dally is the perfect stereo type for the greasers how she explained so well.
Even though she explained the types of stereo types amazingly, I think she over did it a little because she kept repeating how Dally was the perfect fit for the greaser model. A few times in the book I thought I was listening to the radio, when the announcer keeps saying that “In case you just joined us…” Then repeating what has gone on earlier. Just a personal thought but, I don’t think that people just start reading on random pages in books. This however could be a good thing if you were reading in a group. But over all I think that stereo types in this book affected negatively because the stereo types just made the groups(socs/greasers) hate each other even more. That is why stereo types in this book are affecting negatively.

The real meaning?
Authors note: This response is about the true meaning of Family what the real definition of family is.
Do you think just because you have the same blood as some you they should be your family? No there are two types of family. The first is physical and nobody gives a dime about it except some old social services dude. The second and most important is the family that loves you and cares for you. I mean did you know over 40% of kids do not grow up to know their real parents.
The outsiders are a great example of this because of the character Johnny he would not pay a penny for his parents. Instead he refers to the gang as his family, over his biological parents because his family does not really care about him. So the real definition of family should be “the people who love and care about you”. Another book that has this same case is Alex rider when you read the first page it says “Alex never knew his family” And he refers to his family as His uncle and Jack Starburt.
Family is the main theme in this book because the whole book is based on bonding with others I mean Johnny and dally Ponyboy and Darry. Ponyboy and randy, everybody is gaining friends. So that is why the main theme is about family so I thought this was a very serious book about true family sticking together.

The Future?
Would you admit to crime if it meant death? I think that Johnny will run away with ponyboy. They will do this since Johnny killed bob, but they don’t want the police to find out. I also think Dallas will help them because he likes Johnny. This is because of page 24 “Dalles scowled for a moment if it would have been me, Sodapop, Two-bit or Steve or anyone but, Johnny he would have flattened them right there”. This explains his love for Johnny; because it is the only person he would not hurt.
They main reason I think Johnny will run away is because he doesn’t really have a family that loves him except for the gang. That means he really does not have a reason to stay he probably would have left anyway someday, to go to some other city. This gives all the more reason that he will leave. Since Ponyboy would get interrogated by the cops and he will have leave too so he would not rat on Johnny.
Also another reason Ponyboy would run away because he thinks that Darry does not love him and that Sodapop is just sorry for him but, this is not the case. Although he has other friends Johnny is his best friends so he will probably stick with him instead of the rest of the gang .
Therefore Ponyboy will go with Johnny and the will run away. Into the wind and leave forever. And because of the love for Johnny Dalles will help them because who in
Their right mind would like to go to jail, so just sit and think on that.

Proud, Or Frowned
Yes I am proud of my country because they have achieved to be the first country to have the freedom of religion and speech. They also wrote a very important document that has a very important saying on it and that saying is “WE THE PEOPLE”. This means that we the people are in charge not the government and we can do what we want to in life theoretically.
I am very proud of my country first of all because are police our military and other branches of that sort are all voluntaries including the fire department. All these people put their lives on the line to protect this country. Right now there are over 3 million people in the military right now. Not counting police or firefighters creating safe place to live.
Even though we are the most hated country in the world right now it is because, people I other countries are jealous of our freedom and rights. But the most important reason that I am proud of my country is because it was founded on Christ. This is why I am proud of my country but I am very very disappointed with where it is going I will not say why but that is that.

Alex
Dear, Alex
I suggest that you do not get involved with scorpia, because they are a Massive terrorist organization that is planning to terminate all English school children. But do not lose hope for there is a way to stop this abominable account. Be wary that the way they will propose this plan is amidst a balloon. A minuscule balloon located at an ancient abandon church in east London. They have over 16 keen men located at the obstructed road. So have an open eye boy for you will seek it evermore.
Sincerely, Tyler Hull

The right choice
Authors note: If this does not make you want a pickle you should read it again.
Pickles are packed with vitamins and only have 15 calories. There is about 50 calories in a pickle jar. There are 200 in a bread stick so you could eat 4 pickle jars and have just as many calories in one bread stick. That is why we should put pickles in our school lunches; this would make our school a lot healthier.
Healthy sport players also eat pickles in their diets. That is “pro athletes” the one who play on TV. The mostly do this because it only has 15 calories and is packed with vitamins of all sorts. Primitively speaking pickles are Americas 16 favorite foods next to pizza and all those tasty subjects. Also pickles are easy to incorporate in meals and are fairly cheap.
Pickles only cost around 2 dollars a jar or even since it is a school and you by in mass quantities you can get special deals from the manufacture. Also since they are cheap seeds, are science class could grow a garden of pickles to test on them. Then when ripe we could pick them and eat them in our school lunches. Not only are pickles tasty they are also easy to preserve. I know this because this year my family spent 5 dollars on pickle seeds and grew 0ver 25 dollars worth and they taste spectacular. since we preserved them we get to eat them all year even when pickles cost more and they only get better and better.
And the only way to achieve these wonderful tasks is to put pickles in our lunches. Think about it more science work, athletes from Pewaukee Public Schools. We could even be put into America’s best school lunches. Also there a no known allergic action to pickles. This is the main reason there so popular.

Blaze of silver
Authors note: This book is about trust and loyalty.
I have just finished reading a book called Blaze of silver. The climax in this book is when Amal kmail betrayed the de-Grandville’s and stole the silver. This is the climax of the story because Kmail and will collected all the ransom then left to go to Germany to set the king free. But kamil betrayed him and set them up to a ambush where is was stolen.
After this nothing went right so it would be the point of return. The things that led up to the resolution was when Will was framed and Amal was going to kill the king and get the ransom. But before this could happen Germany had to wait for Richards mother to deliver the other half of the ransom because if she found out The King was dead she would leave with the silver. So when will was put to trial they found out he was incent and that amal was an assassin. But in the fray he grabbed wills wife and used her as a hostage. And that is the resolution and so the king was let free. And the emperor blamed it on the assassin. So he got away.

Airsofting
Airsofting is my favorite thing to do I love it so much. I would like it to become a sport. My favorite gun is the AUG but I can’t afford it so I bought an AK47 my dad was going to buy a gili suit for me but they are hard to find. Yesterday I built a sniping tower in the woods it is awesome but if somebody had a grenade they could probably knock it over but otherwise it would stand. It is about 10 feet tall and 10 feet long and 3 feet wide . it sort off looks like a bridge.
(in case you do not know what airsofting is this will tell you. Guns that shoot bbs that do not make you bleed but hurt really bad, well some make you bleed.
They do this in the army for tactics training.

Acting and stuff
Skits are fun because you get to make people laugh or entertain them. Some people are poops and say they are not entertained, but if you get a lot of poops you stink at acting. Acting can be funny to if you do it right. I think that movies are stupid because everything you see is a lie, also video games are a waste of your life unless you’re getting paid. I mean lets be real within the next year you will have a new game and all of the time you spent will be wasted then you will waste another year on a game so that is why you should make mental memories instead of physical ones.

World war 2
During the Second World War there was a man who was part of a German operation but was a double agent for the CIA. His name I will keep to myself, this man was not alone there was another agent of the CIA in this operation too his name will not be mentioned either. They called each other Hunter and wolf. There was mission was to take down the operation but only when the time was right. The operation the Germans were planning was to take out America’s south landing strip on the island of new Genie so they could not plan bomber raids from the east. Back in the heart of Germany the two agents were preparing to take to land on Japan and take a cruiser to the south side of the island and start moving toward the field they were each equipped with gilli suits and mp40. There were three other German soldiers with them carrying the explosives. There were about thirty miles from the air strip when they met their first scout jeep, there orders were to take it and dress up in the American suits and drive the jeep to the air strip. So they set up the sleep gas for the next jeep. When the next jeep passed everything worked fine except the driver’s foot got stuck on the gas and drove the jeep into a tree and there was a big explosion hurling metal into trees. Now one of the German soldiers was down on the ground holding his face. Why was he crying, when we get to the man and in very good German I ask him what is wrong he moves his hands and they are covered in blood now pouring out his hands like a waterfall. I look at his face and there is a 7 inch piece of sheet metal through his left eye. He will be dead in a minute I say signaling for hunter to move the troops out of here. I slit the man’s throat to speed things up a bit he will thank me later. When we are within 3 miles of the air strip we hear the siren go off and a man on a speaker say they found a dead German and an exploded jeep of ours. One of the soldiers asks me what the speaker said. I repeat what the man said in German he simply shrugs and keeps walking. Finally we arrived the soldiers start digging and we keep watch now it was night things were getting tough to see so I told the men to get some rest. When I was sure they were asleep I asked hunter if now was the time he said no. I quickly shot back with a long “why’’ he stood up and said because I am in charge and walked off. After that I let him pick when we kill the soldiers. at about five in the morning I wake up to a small shuffling sound I look around and find out that it was hunter digging I jump in the hole and start to dig. We were now about under the air strip I say to hunter he nodes slowly and gets the German soldiers to lay the mines he says I should stay back here to make sure nobody tampers with the wire. I say but we are not supposed to blow this up. He says your right and says now is the time I load my mp40 and walk to the top of the tunnel drop in and open fire on the unsuspecting Germans I don’t think hunter is shooting. When the second German falls I turn around and nobody is here I shout his name I climb out of the tunnel and that is when the explosion happens I fly into the brush I feel all wet I touch my face and I look at my hand I am bleeding……..all over my legs I see hunter I weekly ask who he says. He says Switzerland pays more and turns away leaving me to my death.

essay- THE ASSASSIN
Have you ever been hunted and end up being hunted? In the book the Assassin by Stephen Coonts the author takes you to excitement and surprise places through the eyes of a secret agent in the CIA. You will be wondering who the good guy is because the author has so many surprises. This book also needs parent guidance because of some bad words. This book is the most surprising book I have ever read.
This is the most surprising book I have ever read because it has so much action, it also is a very tense book because of the feeling the author gives you it feels like your there. The people in Hollywood should make this a movie because they could get rich! This is because there is no way to be bored with this book the author does this by leaving a whole bunch of secretes in the chapter before and reveals them later in the book. This author also makes you feel as if you were there in a chapter a number witch I do not remember, there was an assassin and the main character was looking for him and I felt scared as if the assassin was really in my house, trying to kill my family.
Family in this book is not forgotten too in fact the author ends up having the dad kill his daughter and blow up the president at least he tried. Also the daughter in this book is believed to be the daughter of a terrorist leader, and this is why this book is so awesome! Even though this book had a lot of pro’s it had a couple cons but nobody is perfect right.
The main one is that the book has no real reason or purpose. Example: why people are here and all the background info the author just plops you in the middle of this hunt for people. This confuses me because the book was really great it was awesome, Except for that one big thing. The author could have fixed this by making a prologue in the beginning. Even though this book had some flaws it had many good things about it. I would recommend this book to anyone old enough. Also the authors said he was going to make a second book and try to make a third so I hope this happens. This is the most surprising book I have ever read.
Even though this book had a lot of pro’s it had a couple cons but nobody is perfect right.

group write ---- road trips
Road trips are a very special time because you have time to bond with people you don’t know or want to know better. I think this because if you went on a vacation with somebody you did not know or want to know you could simply move away or leave the room but in a car you are bored and locked down in a seatbelt so you can’t leave. Yeah you cannot listen or pretend not to notice and be a jerk but who wants to do that. Any way you’re probably so bored you would want to do anything not to be bored. If you ever want to bond with someone go on a road trip.

SPELL CHECK
Spell check is awesome it is so awesome it is the only reason I type, instead of writing. There is one disadvantage to spell check it causes laziness, for example right now I just spelled the word i with a lower case it is not supposed to be like this. This is because on word it would automatically spelt it right like the word spelt 6 words back. I think that spell check should be thrown away because it is just lazy.

names
John is the best name ever. I wish my name was john because it sounds so arsome. Arsome is also a amazing word if it is a word if it is not I will make it one. Back to topic if my name was john I would not have to have so many nicknames. Sometimes I don’t know who is talking to me because I have so many nicknames. It is confusing but when my name is john none of this will happen.

nascar
Most people say nascar is the boringest sport, i personly think it is the secound best next to football. I think that table tennies is the boringest sport to watch because you can barly see the ball and unlike other sports it can be played in a 4" by 2" rectangle. nascar is my secound favrite sport to play because it is so fast and you need really good reflexies so you dont cras. These tracks are usaully around 5 miles long and can be as fast as 240 miles/hour if thats not fast a rocket is.

Help I screamed as they pulled me away in the bag. I knew that nobody could hear me because it seems as if I have been screaming for hours. I was guessing that I had been out for about 3 hours, as I feel the distorted lump on my temple. Then out of nowhere somebody says my name and I feel the bag loosening. As I roll out I automatically spring up and run because of my training in the military. The man that called my name does not chase me or move he just watches me run. As I round the corner I come to a 2 way stop. I choose the right path but before I get two feet in I hit something, it feels cold and I realize it is glass I quickly turn around and the man is there. I look at him and I realize I know him but I can’t quite figure out who it is. As he pulls out a gun from his side I spin into the other hallway and come to a dead halt once again hitting glass. I quickly spin around I expect him to shoot but instead I find a small bag lying on the ground with a note in on top.
After I read the note I decide not to do what it said and look for a way out of this. After countless lefts and rights I sit down and eat the clam chowder that is in the bag and I give in and do what the note said to do. I empty the can and start banging it on the metal walls and ground. Seconds later everything goes black and I feel a small sting in my neck, I start to feel woozy a minute later I collapse. When I wake up there is a dim light and i am sitting at a table but not alone. The man across from me gives the baggie back. I ask him where am I what am I doing here, he answers me with silence he say i will be part of a game, his game. Then the ground disappears and I am alone again. I look through my bag and find a rubber band a stick the size of my arm, rope some cotton balls, a battery, a laundry clip and a cue tip. I almost leave them there but I keep them just in case. As I am wondering around I notice that this building is a giant maze. I try to climb the walls by attaching the stick to the end of rope and throwing it in the air hooking it on the edge of the wall I climb up finding a person walking on the other side I jump on him knock him down hit him in the temple with the stick. I search his body and find a small delicate 6 shot revolver. I find six bullets in it I drop the rope and stick and run afraid that the man would wake up and call for others. Again I see another man except this time he sees me it’s a draw but I have my gun out already I shoot. As it flies through his heart another man comes I roll shoot and miss. The man shoots and missies me by centimeters. I get up take aim and I knock the man’s gun out of his hand. Behind him two more men show up toss him a gun before he can grab it there is a whole in his head. As soon as my shot hit they open fire on me one shot hit my right shoulder the other misses me. I lay flat on the ground face down they come up to me and turn me over, as I’m rolling I shoot and they both fall limp. I stand up but I fall back down I look to my heart and I see the tip of a sword I look to see who it is then it all comes back the man who shouted my name was my comrade in Iraq he was supposedly going to die so we left him but this was his revenge. And I was just the first….

ESSAY
Deep in the dark forest of old England he sat ready to pounce. The Short story “The Hundredth” dove by Jane Yolen is a very enticing, but confusing book. During this book the author takes you to a small kingdom in a castle, where when the king is about to marry, the author does this through the eyes of a fowler. Even though this book was a bit confusing and felt like it was all gibberish the author wrapped it up quite nicely in the end.
The end was nice but the end would have been nothing if it was not for the setup that the author used in the beginning to pull the whole thing together. The first thing Yolan did was make it clear that the fowlers motto was serve and that nothing could stop him from disobeying it. The second reason I say that the begging set it up is because on the first page about ¾ down the page it says that he only dared to kiss the ladies ring. Later in this story the ring and his motto badge would be the whole key to this story. First the ring when he finally caught the white bird with his net and hand he saw the ring on the bird’s foot. Then the bird started to talk this is when the motto badge came to play. The bird tried to barging and persuade with the fowler twice but he refused, then the fowler showed the dove his motto badge. The dove tried one more time telling him that he would be able to marry the soon to be kings wife. As seconds went by he said yes and ripped off his badge agreeing. But in the end there was no marriage for the king or the fowler.
I think that this story was a fable. (Something that has a lesson or point to the story) Because when he ripped off his badge and threw it to the ground hoping to marry, but it turns out that he did not get married, and he lost a friend, the king. This all means that you should stick to your friends and be good to them and not be a trader behind their backs. Also that you should respect them and trust that they respect you too.
This story also relates to my life a lot because did not respect my friends once. I was having a airsoft war with my friends and I trapped one of them. Exactly when the fowler trapped the Dove. So he said you can be on our team if you don’t shoot and I said sure, just like when the fowler was tempted by the Dove. Then we went off to keep fighting I shot my old teammates after a while the same guy I trapped shot me. The same thing happened to the fowler instead of getting shot he never got to marry her.
Married or not the fowler lived a unhappy life alone in regret of his choice. The author could have done much better in her word choice example: Ran page 2 She could have used Sprinted and many other choices. That would have made this story much more interesting. Even though this book was a bit confusing and felt like it was all gibberish the author wrapped it up quite nicely in the end.

Picture Thing
This picture reminds me of my life except I’m on the right. I think I have adhd or a slight bit of it. I am not quite sure but there is something wrong with me I might have a birth defect or maybe I am missing part of my brain or a ate a parasite and it is messing around with my head. When I find out what it is I hope it can be fixed because it gets me in trouble a lot. My parents say there is nothing wrong with me but everybody says different than them, I think they just don’t want to pay the bill. It is ok though because I think a am just really hyper and I should not eat breakfast or lunch so I have no energy anymore, or I could…..no that would just make my mom and dad pay more, weal looks like I will starve.

sPORTS
sports are a way to get out and do something other than sitting on the couch and watching TV. sports also can help you get fit and have a healthy body.
Most sports consist of an offense and a defense and a type of ball. Also sports are usually a team thing. Except for a few not very popular sports like pool, tennis, skiing and snow boarding are just a few. There are over 500 kinds of sports in the world and the average person knows 16.And out of the 16 the average person knows they play 1.

The veldt
Have you ever thought of making things to do all your work? In the book The Veldt by Ray Bradbury you will experience compassion and hate. This is a great book except for the beginning, it takes too long to develop witch bores the reader before the good parts. This book also has a lot of good parts in it to, like the screams that sound familiar. Over all this author made the story come together quite nicely, except for a few mistakes (like the whole beginning). This book is the most shocking book I have ever read because of the suspense!
This book is the most shocking book I have ever read, even though the author gives you hints along the way it still came as a shock. The author did this by making some clues as fakes or in the wrong order while somewhere in the correct place at the right time. During the surprise the author made it seem as if it was not a big deal by having the children that ended their parent’s life, by sitting down and having lunch. Here is the example: pg 25 last paragraph “well here I am,’’ said David McClean in the nursery doorway. “Oh hello.’’ He stared at the two at the two children seated in the center of the open glade eating a little picnic lunch”. The author makes it seem as if nothing happened as if it was a normal day with some high suspense. Mostly because she later asked him for a cup of tea.
Although this book is full of suspense and mysteries it is also filled with boring everyday life that we do not need a book to know. Here is another example: At dinner they ate alone because peter was gone to a carnival. So George Hadley sat bemused at the table watching the dining room table produce warm food. (Pg 7 last paragraph) This is also a very good example for another thing the period of time or when it takes place. (It tells you nothing and all of the sudden a table is producing food then the wife goes on complaining about automatic bathtub tooth brush and so on.)Witch confuses the reader a lot and the might put the book away and not read it witch would not be good. The author could have fixed this by making the title more futuristic, or using future names. This would make it more understandable to the reader.
As you can see this book is the most interesting book ever. However it has plenty of mistakes and could have used a little more detail like when he said the vultures were flying overhead he could have said hovering, stalking, ect. Over this entire book contained plenty of action and surprises other than boring and lame begin. This book has a few messages, one is that you should be happy with what you have and not complain because it could get worse. Also one could be that don’t let riches and things get in the way of your life because they will destroy you.

Shirts
Shirts are a way to exspress your feelings. Also shirts keep things covered
up. The reason we wrote about shirts are because they are a way to exspress your self, your life what you do and what you like. Also shirts can kill you because some people judge you by what you wear, sadly.

favorite childhood memory
My favorite childhood memory was with my cousin and I. We went to visit them for the holidays in Colorado. After we received our presents We went into this big field that was surrounded by a whole bunch of houses. It sort of looked like a bowl because it was going to be a big pond when they finished the neighborhood, but there was no water in it. So we got some golf balls and clubs and we started whacking balls all around. Just before we ran out of golf balls we realized there was one of those places workers stay in while they are on the job and that we had been hitting it all the time. As soon as we found that out, we sprinted back leaving the rest of the balls behind. Later found out that it had been emty for a while and that nobody was there. Later that same week we flew kites and remote controll planes. It was very windy so we decidede to go to a park so our presants would not go in the trees. During our time at the park we got to eat these weird dishes from another country. this was my favirote memory because I was just having a good time.

the lottery
“It was a humid afternoon as the towns people picked up their rocks and took aim, even little john picked up a few pebbles.” PAGE 2 in the book The lottery by Shirley Jackson that is exactly what happens. For the size of this book you would think of a boring little story. This book is a flat out mouths open shocker. It also is a puzzle that is missing a few pieces, at the end the author lets you decide what will happen.
The thing I liked the most about this book was the story. The author really put some thought in this book giving the pieces of the puzzle to the reader in the wrong order mixing it up a bit to confuse the reader. In the end there were still some pieces of the puzzle missing witch left the reader wanting more. Also the word choice was great. Here is a small example page 16 “there was a general sigh”. There could have been nothing in front of sigh, or small could have been there.
Even though there was surplus of pros there were still a lot of cons. This book for me was not a very hard read, but it was the story line that made it challenging. While the author mixed things up a bit, he could have made it a little bit more understandable because up until the end you could not understand what you were reading. Also the author needs to have a better target because she kept jumping from difficult to easy reading levels, which I thought made it more difficult to read. Over all that was all she could have done better at describing the main character more insignificantly. It felt like she really had the power to stop the people and redraw the lottery. Also the author could have made the enemy more powerful. It made me feel like they were old weak and scrawny.
Overall this book had bad and some good decisions. The author made this book a flat out mouth dropper; she did this with a high sense of suspense. This book has two very good lessons to it; one is doing complain because it could be worse. The second one which would probably be the most notable one is that things are not what they seem to be.

oatmeal
oatmeal is very disgusting but it is very good for you. A study in a collage in oakland that people that ate oatmeal before taking a test did 80% better than the ones that ate other things. i think thney should serve oat meal in the cafitera. because it could help people that have test later. I would eat it even if it was disgusting.

Stormbraker
What would it be like to lose your one and only relative? In the book Stormbraker (he first book in this series) by Anthony Horthawitz , That is exactly what happens. During this book you will experience a action packed thriller full of surprises and some disappointments.
The first thing that makes this Book awesome is the surprises and the action. In the second chapter Alex Rider the main character is having a normal day and he sees his uncle’s car in the junkyard. Out of his curiosity he sneaks in and takes a look and there are bullet holes in the side. After that he would find out that is uncle was a spy. Then he was blackmailed into becoming a spy to. And then take revenge on his uncle’s death and so on. The action in this book was great mostly because everything was realistic and real. This is what this is because in the book he knocked out people in real pressers points and weak spots. The author (Anthony horthawitz) did not just say “ok he kicked him in the head and he got knocked out” no he took time to look and search for this stuff. Same with the weapons not made up REAL.
While this book has a lot of surprises it also has some things that could use a little work. The main thing the author could have done better on was the plotline. In the beginning had plenty of surprises but, by the time you read half the book you knew what was going to happen. He could have prevented this from happening by laying the story out slower or start targeting the people who digest everything slower. Other than that everything was just fine except the character smit in the beginning he was going to be helping with the mission but after that you never heard about him. It is like the author forgot about him.
Some books are good some are bad most are both. During this book you will experience a action packed book full of surprises, and a few disappointments. Like the time when he found his uncle’s car or the missing character. Those are just some of the reasons that makes this book a want to read more. If you have that in your books you’re going to be selling a lot of books. The point of this book is to give a sense of independence.

the story

Have you ever imagined a book with everything a book needs that you can’t set it down? Winter war by “William Durbin” is that book. It has ever thing to make it a once in a life time book. This book is based on a true story about the desperate need for a country to prove itself to the world through the eyes of one child, Marko.
The only thing that the author could have done better was make the story a little longer it was a little short for a war with a country in dire need. A few more things he could have done are, use more vocabulary and shorter sentences. The reason for the sentences was because he had way to many run on that never ended. Like this one Chapter 11 first sentence. “Marko lay in the dark tent, half awake, thinking back on a hot June day when he and Johan had gone bog walking through a swamp north of his grandma’s farm, he wished that he could do that again, but never will he”. The vocabulary is on there because during this sentence he says 2 descriptive words and both were simplest vocabulary when he could have used better words.
Although there were these negative choices in his vocabulary that Durbin could have fixed there were a million more good choices that took this book to the top even though this book was based of a true story Durbin made it worth reading. Usually I hate reading history. My favorite part of the story was when the snipers came back naked on skies in the winter because they were taking a sauna on break and the enemy found them and chased them back. That surprised me completely I did not with the slights thought that that would happen.
This is mostly because of the surprises that they throw at you witch make it unpredictable, and when your story is unpredictable why not turn the page. This book, reminds me of my favorite series” Alex rider”. The main reason that this book reminds me of the Alex rider series is how the story ended. They did not just drop it off a cliff and say the end, the authors made a puzzle and one thing missing and then you understand it all and put the last piece in, but all of a sudden you’re missing another piece and they let you create the end. This book, Winter War by “William Durbin” Is a once in a lifetime book and has everything it needs to make it a great.

Sports
I love sports it is a good way to get outside. If there were no sports in the world every person would be fat and the world and nothing would ever get done. My favorite sport is go kart-ing this is my favorite because it is very fast. My second favorite sport is football because it is vary intense.
Candy
Candy is a child's dream it is so Delicious. MANY People say it rots your teeth, and don't give their children candy. This is true but why brush their teeth then. and you will say because your supposed to and all the kids say but mom and then you say go home. It is horrible so to stop this i am going to build a candy land for free it will be awesome.

snow day
The best snow day would be when we got trapped in school and we could not get out. Then we could play football and basketball all day long in the gym. Also it could be the worst because the teachers could make us do work all day long it would stink. i hope one day that that would happen so that i could pull of a all night with me buds.

the story
The story “Deep water” by William.o.dougless made a big connection for me because I hate water. I hate water so much that I only like to go swimming in pools. This story is the exact same as mine except how I got scared. This book is also a good written book because it really seems real. Not like some made up story just real. This makes my real life connection a real life connection.
One day my family and I went to Lake Michigan and we went out on the sand bars far-out from the beach and a boat came and made some big waves that knocked me off the bar and into the deep. I am a good swimmer but I could not swim in the big waves. So I started to go under longer on every wave until I got messed up and got uncoordinated with the waves went up when it went down so when it came up I was down, Just like when William The kid from the story got dunked by a big dude and his plan of pushing up from the bottom that failed. It was almost over I hit the next sandbar I did not really know it was the sand bar because I felt dizzy, also William lost it and the next thing he knew was that he was puking on the ground at the pool. Then I waited for my strength and swam back to the beach. (The sand bars are like rungs on a later each one after the other one I was on the third one out)
The next time we went any were with waves I did not go further than chest deep unlike William, he did not go swimming at all. After a few visits my dad noticed that I was not swimming at all so he asked what was wrong and of course I told him “nothing”. After a while my mom wanted me to go skiing. And I always said no but one time she convinced me to. So when I went skiing I just lost all my fear because all I had to do was stay up till the boat came which was easy so now I love to ski, Just like William all he had to do was practice then he would not drown in his shock.
As you can see I have a lot of connections to this story especially with the sandbars and the declining pool. This story is for people like you and me to tell us that nothing is imposable and with practice you can do almost anything. A second thing this story was telling me was not to give up keep going. This is why “Deep Water” by William. o. Douglass has made so many connections to my life.

The pearl
‘’The pearl” By John Steinbeck is to detailed, it is so detailed you can barley read it. Also there is a fading story line in the end and it is totally predictable which makes a book boring, and pointless to read. Just like a movie where a princess needs a prince because she is trapped in a tower. Boohoo, here are some ways to make your book flash, also what not to do to make people drop their book on the first page.
Picture a book selling no copies because it is predictable… no fun. So to stop this from happing try not to give everything away on the first page like Steinbeck did ,On pg 29 “The sound of the family hung in the air by their straw hut then the song of evil came and with it came the doctor”. This one sentence tells you there poor and the doctor is evil. This gives away half the story now all you need to know why he is bad with he tells a couple pages later that he sent somebody to steal the pearl that night. So to stop from doing this you should let the story unfold slowly. Another way to get the story out would be to let it out in the last few letters but only if was a suspense or mystery. (Those ones are my favorite)
Some examples to support my thoughts of Steinbeck using too many details. “pg 19 It captured the light and refined it and gave it a silver incandescence. It was as large as a seagulls egg.” That was three details, One is good two is okay tree is way to detailed. That is almost have adjectives Who wants to be listing off stuff like that. A good reason not to this is to let the reader do this. Another not to is make the plot line unpredictable which makes it fun to read. The only way to stop this to be imaginative.
Some ways to make your story better are to not jump from place to place because then you will confuse your readers. Here is an example:” It was a cold sunny day and we were on a picnic in Wisconsin but California is better, my favorite fruit is the orange it is good”. The best way to stop this from happing is to reread you’re your work. A good role model for writing is C.S lewis he has writing a few books but he is very good. As you can see The pearl by John Steinbeck is poorly written.

lesson to the pearl
In this story the lesson is not to let fame and fortune get the best or you will be lost forever in the abbess with no way to leave. Another lesson to this story could be fortune only comes your way once so you have to use it to the best of your advantage. Both ways could work but i am going with the 1st one. The second one is just there to make this look long. Some things that back my conclusion up are that the whole story is based on Kino and the pearl. Another reason is that When Kino killed a man fortune got the best of him and from there on every thing went wrong. This is why you do not let fame and fortune get the best of or you will end up with nothing like Kino.

destruction from the pearl
Juana belives that the pearl will destroy them because since they found it bad luck and "Eviel" has came to them. She also thinks this because he is geting muged by people at night and some people are trying to steal it in his house. I to would have liked to get rid of it but, oppertunity only knocks once.
The pearl will eventually destroy them by causeing kino to go mad and kill his family then commit sucide because he can not belive or live with what he had done. This is true because it has already started First the robber dude then he killed a man and he just cant fight people forever, and even if he could fight for ever his wife would leave him and the bby then what would the point be to keep fighting. There would be no point so again like i said....sucide.

The Pearl
Some of my thoughts on the pearl.
I think this is a very good book so for except for the plot line it seems to be weak and predictable. The thing I thought that was the most interesting was the people in straw city and how they could change sides with Kino so fast like, one second they love him then... poof hatred. I am guessing that Kino will kill his whole family out of his anger then run away and commit it suicide. I like this author so far and I might read more of his books.
